Trust is the whole point of Walkies UK. This page explains exactly how we vet walkers, protect your dog, handle problems and look after your data.

Walker verification process

No walker takes a single booking until they've cleared every stage of our vetting process. We check, we verify, and then we meet them in person.

  • Identity verification — we confirm every walker is who they say they are.
  • Enhanced DBS background check — the standard used for roles working with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Reference checks — we follow up references for real-world experience and reliability.
  • Insurance verification — we confirm valid public liability and pet care cover, and keep expiry dates monitored.
  • In-person interview — a real conversation to judge temperament and genuine care for dogs.
  • Onboarding & training — every walker is trained on our safety and service standards before going live.

Insurance coverage

Every walk booked through Walkies UK is covered by insurance, so you're protected if the unexpected happens.

  • Public liability insurance covers third-party injury or property damage during a walk.
  • Pet care insurance covers eligible veterinary costs arising from an incident on a walk.
  • Cover applies to every walk booked and paid through the platform — never book off-platform, as that voids your protection.

GPS tracking

You should never have to wonder where your dog is. Every walk is tracked live from start to finish.

  • Your walker checks in on the app at the start of the walk and the route is recorded by GPS.
  • You receive the route map showing exactly where your dog went and how far they walked.
  • Distance, duration and rest breaks are captured automatically — no guesswork.

Photo reports

Peace of mind isn't just knowing the walk happened — it's seeing your dog happy.

  • Photos are taken on every walk and sent to you the moment it finishes.
  • A friendly note covers how your dog got on, including toilet breaks and behaviour.
  • Reports are saved to your account so you can look back on your dog's history any time.

Emergency procedures

Walkers are trained on exactly what to do if something goes wrong on a walk — and speed matters.

  • If your dog is injured or unwell, the walker takes them to the nearest vet immediately.
  • You are contacted straight away with what's happening and where.
  • Our support team is alerted and helps coordinate care and any insurance claim.
  • If your dog escapes or goes missing, the walker begins an immediate search, notifies you, and we mobilise support — including local alerts where appropriate.
  • For life-threatening danger, the walker calls 999 first, then contacts you and us.

Complaints process

If we get something wrong, we want to know — and we want to put it right quickly.

  • Raise an issue by emailing support@walkiesuk.com or via the contact form, with your booking details.
  • We acknowledge every complaint within 2 hours during business hours.
  • We aim to resolve issues within 2 working days, keeping you updated throughout.
  • Serious safety concerns are escalated immediately and can result in a walker being suspended pending investigation.

Data protection (GDPR)

Your data — and your dog's — is handled carefully and lawfully, in line with UK GDPR.

  • We only collect the data we need to run your bookings and keep walks safe.
  • Payment details are handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
  • Your data is stored securely and never sold to third parties.
  • You have the right to access your data and the right to deletion — email hello@walkiesuk.com and we'll action it.

Money-back guarantee

If you're not happy with your dog's first walk, we'll refund it in full — no questions asked.

  • If you're unhappy with your dog's first walk, contact us for a full refund — no questions asked.
  • Cancel more than 12 hours before a walk for a full refund.
  • Walker no-show? You're refunded in full, every time.
  • We'd rather lose a booking than keep a customer who doesn't trust us with their dog.
