Privacy Policy

It covers dog owners who book walks, dog walkers who offer their services, and visitors to walkiesuk.com. Where a section applies only to one group, we say so.

We only collect what we need to run the service:

• Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
• Dog and booking details: your dog's name, breed, age and care notes, plus the date, time and service you book.
• Address and location: the pickup address for a walk, so a walker knows where to meet your dog. During a walk, walkers may share GPS route data so you can see where your dog went.
• Walk updates: photos and notes a walker sends you after a walk.
• Payment information: payments are processed securely by Stripe. Your card details are handled by Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We keep a record of the amount, date and status of each booking.
• Usage and device data: basic technical information needed to keep the app secure and working, such as app version and error logs.

• To create and manage your account and bookings.
• To connect owners with suitable local walkers and let walkers fulfil bookings.
• To take payment for a booking and pay walkers their share.
• To send you booking confirmations, walk updates and service messages.
• To keep the platform safe, prevent misuse and meet our legal obligations.

Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are: performance of our contract with you (to provide bookings), our legitimate interests (to run and protect the service), and consent where required (for example optional marketing, which you can withdraw at any time).

We never sell your personal data. We share it only where needed to provide the service:

• Walkers and owners: to complete a booking, a walker sees the booking details and address, and an owner sees the walker's profile, rating and reviews.
• Stripe: our payment processor, to take payments and pay walkers.
• Supabase: our hosting and database provider, which stores your data securely on our behalf.
• Authorities: if we are legally required to, or to protect the safety of a person or animal.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting and dispute-resolution needs. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
• Ask us to delete your data, where we are not required to keep it.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent for anything you previously agreed to.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@walkiesuk.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Walkies UK is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords and access controls. Payments are handled by Stripe, a certified payment provider, so card details never touch our servers.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
